Specific search parameters included: Houses for sale; no minimum price range; maximum price range of up to $100,000; any square footage; and three or more bedrooms. All info is as of Jan. 30, 2021.

Alabama: Birmingham

The city of Birmingham is located in central Alabama, about a two-hour drive from Atlanta, Georgia. It’s currently (as of Jan. 30, 2021) the largest city in Alabama, though Huntsville and Montgomery are close behind.

Birmingham attracts visitors for its food and music scenes, as well as its history with the Civil Rights Movement. Popular activities in the area include hiking, biking, scenic overlooks, and more.

Birmingham has a population of about 209,000 residents.

Arkansas: Little Rock

Wisconsin: Milwaukee

Instead, open an account solely for your house savings. This can help you eliminate confusion between goals and drive your focus toward saving for a house.
• Don’t be afraid to ask your lender questions. The best mortgage lenders are there to help you through the home-buying process, so don’t be afraid to ask them questions. Common mortgage questions may include asking about credit checks, pre-approved loans, different types of mortgages, and more. If you don’t know something, ask. Gaining knowledge could end up helping you save money and avoid mistakes.
• Consider title insurance, even if it’s not required: Title insurance can help protect you if you buy a home and issues later arise with claims against the home. Issues with home titles aren’t common, but a previous owner may have unpaid property taxes or the title may have a lien you don’t know about. In these situations, title insurance could help protect the large financial investment you’ve made in purchasing a home. If you’re getting a traditional mortgage, it’s likely already required. But if you’re going with alternative financing, it’s something you might still consider.
